In a coordinated operation codenamed “KALKAN-16,” authorities targeted smuggling networks operating in six provinces centered around Muğla and Bursa.

According to Minister Yerlikaya’s statement on social media, the operation resulted in the detention of 19 migrant smuggling organizers and the apprehension of 173 irregular migrants. The suspects were allegedly involved in facilitating illegal crossings and exploiting vulnerable individuals seeking a better life.

In addition to the arrests, law enforcement seized a substantial amount of Turkish Lira and various digital materials during the operations. The authorities are continuing their efforts to dismantle these criminal networks and ensure the safety and security of migrants and citizens alike.

This development underscores the ongoing commitment of Turkish authorities to combat human trafficking and protect the integrity of their borders. The investigation remains active, and further details are expected to emerge as the case unfolds. (ILKHA)
