The Islamic Resistance in Iraq confirmed the attack, stating that its fighters utilized unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the operation.

In a statement released early Wednesday, the group said the attack targeted the airport "deep within the İsraeli occupation entity." This follows a similar attack reported on March 12th using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The statement further claimed the strike is part of a "second phase" of operations in support of Palestinians and retaliation for "Israeli massacres against innocent civilians." The Resistance also threatened to enforce a blockade on Israeli maritime traffic in the Mediterranean Sea.

This escalation comes amidst heightened tensions in the region. Earlier this week, the group targeted an Israeli drone base in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights. Additionally, they pledged continued attacks throughout the upcoming Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The Iraqi Resistance, which includes factions like the al-Nujaba Movement, has previously declared its commitment to expelling U.S. forces from Iraq and supporting Palestinians through strikes against Israel. (ILKHA)
