48 migrants, including 20 children, rescued off Izmir coast

Turkish Coast Guard rescued 48 irregular migrants, including 20 children, from three inflatable vessels off the coast of Çeşme and Karaburun districts in Izmir.

The Coast Guard received reports of migrants in distress and deployed boats to the area. They located and rescued the migrants from two life rafts and a rubber boat.

According to local reports, the migrants were previously pushed back into Turkish waters by Greek authorities.

Following the rescue operation, the irregular migrants were transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management to undergo necessary procedures and receive assistance.
