Türkiye marks International Day to Combat Islamophobia with call for solidarity

The Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a press release today, March 15, 2024, on the occasion of the International Day to Combat Islamophobia.

The Ministry commemorated the fifth anniversary of the Christchurch Mosque attacks, where 51 people, including one Turkish citizen, were killed. The statement expressed condolences to the victims' families and wished for Allah's mercy upon them.

The Ministry emphasized the significance of March 15th as the International Day to Combat Islamophobia.  They urged the international community to unite in confronting anti-Muslim sentiments.

The press release welcomed the adoption of a resolution on combating Islamophobia by the UN General Assembly on March 15th.  The resolution was co-sponsored by Türkiye and other member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). (ILKHA)
