Türkiye sees 2.8% annual growth in paid employees across sectors

The Turkish Statistical Institute announced on Friday that the number of paid employees in various sectors saw a 2.8% annual increase in January 2024 compared to the same month of the previous year.

According to the statement, the total number of paid employees, spanning across industries such as industry, construction, and trade-services, rose from 14,620,763 in January of the previous year to 15,022,900 in January 2024.

Breaking down the data further, the report revealed that the number of paid employees in the industrial sector saw a marginal increase of 0.1%, while the construction sector experienced a significant surge of 9.6%. Similarly, the trade-services sector witnessed a notable 3.1% increase in paid employees compared to the previous year.

Monthly Increase of 0.1% in Paid Employees

On a monthly basis, the number of paid employees in various sectors experienced a slight uptick of 0.1% in January 2024 compared to the previous month.

Delving into the sub-sectors, the report highlighted that while there was a slight decrease of 0.3% in the industrial sector, the construction sector saw a modest increase of 0.7%. Moreover, the trade-services sector recorded a 0.3% increase in the number of paid employees on a monthly basis. (ILKHA)
