The Jerusalem Governorate issued a statement expressing concern over this move, stating: "In a dangerous precedent and for the first time since 1967, the occupation army today placed barbed wire on the fence adjacent to the mosque in the Lions Gate area."

Nasser Qaws, an official from the Fatah movement in the Old City, condemned the action, alleging that it aims to prevent worshipers from accessing Al-Aqsa Mosque during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.

This development follows a five-month strict siege imposed by Israeli forces on Al-Aqsa Mosque, during which entry has been prohibited. Additionally, Israeli authorities have issued numerous deportation orders against Jerusalemites to prevent them from attending prayers at the mosque during Ramadan. (ILKHA)
