In a recent interview, Mirzoyan acknowledged "European aspirations" among the Armenian people and revealed ongoing internal discussions regarding a formal membership application.

This newfound interest in the EU comes amidst regional challenges faced by Armenia in recent years. Mirzoyan, speaking on TRT World, highlighted the possibility of EU membership alongside broader cooperation with European nations, particularly France, and the United States. He emphasized the potential for strategic talks with Washington and pursuing avenues beyond the existing Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA). Discussions on visa liberalization or facilitation are also reportedly underway.

While the ultimate decision remains unclear, Foreign Minister Mirzoyan's comments signal a significant shift in Armenia's foreign policy considerations. The possibility of EU membership presents a new chapter for Armenia's international relations. (ILKHA)
