Speaking at a press conference, Wang emphasized the urgency of the situation and reiterated Beijing's call for an "immediate ceasefire."

"It is a tragedy for humankind," Wang declared, "that in the 21st century, this humanitarian disaster persists without resolution. No reason can justify the continuation of the conflict, and no excuse can justify the killing of civilians."

Wang urged the international community to act swiftly, prioritizing an end to hostilities and ensuring urgent humanitarian relief. He also expressed China's support for granting "full" United Nations membership to a Palestinian state.

"The catastrophe in Gaza serves as a stark reminder that the prolonged occupation of Palestinian territories cannot be ignored. The Palestinian people's long-cherished aspiration for an independent country must no longer be evaded,” he emphasized.

China's consistent advocacy for an immediate ceasefire dates back to the start of the Israel-Hamas war in October 2023. As a nation historically sympathetic to the Palestinian cause, China continues to champion a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. (ILKHA)
