Türkiye’s Erdoğan to pay a visit to Uzbekistan to attend SCO summit
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will embark on a two-day visit to Uzbekistan on Thursday to attend a regional summit in the southeastern city of Samarkand.
Erdogan will attend the annual Heads of State Council summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which will convene on Friday.
Erdoğan will address the second session of the summit, and take part in a family photo, Turkish presidency said.
He is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with the leaders attending the summit, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is a Eurasian political, economic and security organization.
In terms of geographic scope and population, it is the world's largest regional organization, covering approximately 60% of the area of Eurasia, 40% of the world population, and more than 30% of global GDP.
According to the Charter of the SCO, summits of the Council of Heads of State shall be held annually at alternating venues. (ILKHA)
