Turkish presidency to organize “International Strategic Communication Summit”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will address the summit through a video message, which will bring together experts from around the world in their respective fields.

The two-day summit will be attended by representatives from more than 30 countries from academia, think tanks, the public sector, the media, the private sector, non-governmental organizations, and international organizations.

Presidency’s Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun will deliver a speech at the summit, which will feature 112 speakers, 41 from international organizations, and over 3,000 guests.

Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev will deliver a speech titled “Karabakh: Communication of a Victory” on the first day of the summit. During an exclusive session titled “Life Begins When We Connect,” Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu will discuss the strategic achievements of Turkey’s transportation, infrastructure, and communication projects.

Participation of prominent international organizations at the highest levels

The summit will feature discussions on such issues as “strategic communication, public diplomacy, digital diplomacy, disinformation, crisis management, communication campaigns, government communication, new media, public relations, open intelligence, social media network analysis, nation branding, market data, new communication technology trends, strategic marketing, media budgets, the impact of algorithms on human life, public polls, and political communication.”

In addition to the 21 panels, Stratcom Summit ’21 will host a variety of events and feature senior executives from international organizations such as NATO, the European Union, the OECD, UN, UNICEF, UNEP, and UNDP, who work in the field of strategic communication, as speakers.

The summit will feature presentations titled “Communicating for Every Child,” “NATO’s Strategic Communication,” and “Communicating in Times of COVID-19 Pandemic.”

Global CEOs of world-renowned research companies such as IPSOS and Nielsen will speak at the summit, which will also be attended by the globally known social media influencers, authors, and academics.

Furthermore, high-level bureaucrats who shape communication strategies in countries such as Singapore, Great Britain, Estonia, Latvia, Chile, and Nigeria will share their experiences with communication campaigns in their respective countries.

Turkey’s stories of national and domestic brands to be told

On the other hand, at the summit, the “Turkey’s Brands” panel, which will feature high-level speakers from Turkey’s Automobile Joint Venture Group (TOGG), Turkish Airlines (THY), as well as certain private enterprises, will discuss the stories of leading national and domestic brands.

President of the Turkish Red Crescent Kerem Kınık will share Turkey’s experiences with humanitarian assistance and crisis communication in an exclusive session.

Representatives from domestic data and artificial intelligence companies operating in the international market, as well as representatives from Turkey’s leading digital publishers, will attend the summit, which will also host an exclusive panel starring female communication professionals.

The summit will include a panel discussion on “The Future and Content Strategy of Video,” which will delve into the video-watching habits of today’s youth. In special panels, executives from TRT and Anadolu Agency will address the latest developments in public broadcasting.

A panel showcasing real-life experiences on Syrian business people’s contributions to the Turkish economy will be featured at the Stratcom Summit.

“We will make Turkey a global brand in strategic communication”

Director of Communications Altun touched upon the summit, saying that strategic communication has become increasingly vital as technology has advanced in the 21st century and that the Directorate of Communications will be hosting a major worldwide conference in this field.

Director of Communications Altun stated that the summit will be the melting pot of the strategic communication ecosystem, emphasizing that the summit aims to elevate Turkey’s global brand value in the field of strategic communication by bringing together the world’s most notable names in the field in Istanbul.

Director of Communications Altun added, “With the summit, which will be held for the first time this year, we aim to establish Istanbul as the global center of strategic communication studies. This summit, which will highlight current debates, concerns, and future trends in a comprehensive and scientific manner, will also serve as a focal point for increased teaching and research on the strategic communication ecosystem.” (ILKHA)
