In its weekly statement on the external agenda, HÜDA PAR also addressed the humanitarian plight in Afghanistan.

“Saudi Arabia maintains policies intended to fuel instability and disintegration in the region”

“After Lebanon's Minister of Information, George Kardahi, criticized Saudi Arabia's war in Yemen, Saudi Arabia and its allies decided to impose diplomatic and trade sanctions against Lebanon,” HÜDA PAR reminded, and adding:” These sanctions against Lebanon, which has been struggling with an economic and political crisis for a long time, will cause new destruction in the country's economy. “Saudi Arabia, which previously organized a similar embargo against Qatar, continues its policies that fuel instability and separation in the region. Imposing its regional policies with threats and sanctions, Saudi Arabia is trying to condemn the people to poverty and chaos in Lebanon, as in Yemen.”

HÜDA PAR called on the Saudi government to immediately abandon this threatening stance against the countries of the region, especially Lebanon, and use its influence to end the conflicts, not to deepen them.

“UN and neighboring countries should support Afghanistan with emergency aid packages”

Pointing out that despite the fact the 20-year-long US occupation in Afghanistan had ended, the attacks and explosions claiming the lives of dozens of people continued in the country, HÜDA PAR said that they had condemned the heinous attacks targeting the stability and peace of Afghanistan.

“On the other hand, the number of people suffering from hunger and poverty in Afghanistan is increasing day by day. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) said in a report that about 97 percent of Afghanistan’s population may sink below the poverty line unless the country’s political and economic crises are addressed. It also warned that the world has witnessed not only political tension but also an economic collapse in Afghanistan. 38 million people cannot survive with limited foreign aid. The humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan will trigger migration to neighboring countries and Europe. Therefore, Afghanistan should be stabilized as soon as possible. In terms of humanitarian aid, the UN and neighboring countries should support Afghanistan with emergency aid packages. We call on all parties to fulfill their responsibilities in this regard.” (ILKHA)
