Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu held a joint press conference after meeting with El Salvador's Foreign Minister Alexandra Hill.

Referring to the regime's attacks on Idlib in Syria, Çavuşoğlu said: "These attacks can spell trouble; the regime should not play with fire."

Çavuşoğlu also said there are no plans to move Turkey's observation post near the town of Khan Sheikhun to another area.

Çavuşoğlu responded that "Turkey has no intention of withdrawing" to a question about whether Turkey would withdraw from the area because of the ongoing clashes around the ninth observation post and the possibility of the area entering under regime control.

"If the attacks are not halted, Mr. President talks to Mr. Putin when necessary," Çavuşoğlu said, underlined that those observation posts were also established with Russia and Iran within the framework of Astana.

"At the moment we have no intention of moving it anywhere else. We are constantly in talks with Russia to ensure silence in Idlib.

Stating that Idlib is a critical issue for Syria's future, the foreign minister said: Taking confidence-building steps between the opposition and the regime, especially the Astana negotiations, the Constitutional Commission, which we can announce its establishment at any moment, as well as the exchange of detainees, are important issues for Syria."

"We need to secure a ceasefire here. Because the regime does not believe in a solution, it began to defend the military solution. Russia is the guarantor of the regime."

Referring to the "Safe Zone" talks with the United States for the east of the Euphrates, Çavuşoğlu said that the talks started in a positive way, some issues were resolved, and negotiations were continuing on issues that were not resolved. (ILKHA)
