Suspects trying to sell the book were arrested.

Announced by Diyarbakır Governorate, Provincial Gendarmerie Command Anti-Smuggling, and Organized Crime Branch has reached the information that 3 suspects were looking for a buyer to sell the 1,400-years-old book, which has religious motifs on papyrus paper.

Based on the information received on 23 May 2019 in Bağcılar, district of Diyarbakır province on Thursday and supported by the Gendarmerie Command in the District of Kayapınar operations, the suspected were arrested while trying to sell the religious motives book, said the governorate in a statement.

"In the judicial search made on and in residence of the persons, one book with a religious motif consisting of 18 sheets and 36 pages of paper written on papyrus paper with leather cover was uncovered," the statement read. (ILKHA)
