The number of unemployed persons aged 15 years old and over has realized as 3 million 537 thousand persons with 83 thousand persons increase in 2018 compared to the previous year.

Unemployment rate realized as 11% with a 0.1 percentage point increase. Unemployment rate realized as 9.5% with 0.1 percentage point increase for male, 13.9% with 0.2-percentage point decrease for female.

In the same year, the non-agricultural unemployment rate was estimated at 12.9% with a 0.1 percentage point decrease. While youth unemployment rate including the 15-24 age group realized as 20.3% with 0.5 percentage point decrease, the unemployment rate for the 15-64 age group occurred as 11.2% with a 0.1 percentage point increase.

The number of employed persons aged 15 years old and over-realized as 28 million 738 thousand persons with 549 thousand persons increase and employment rate occurred as 47.4% with a 0.3 percentage point increase. Employment rate occurred as 65.7% with a 0.1 percentage point increase for male and 29.4% with a 0.5 percentage point increase for female.

Agricultural employment decreased as 167 thousand persons and non-agricultural employment increased as 717 thousand persons. Of those who were employed in 2018; 18.4% was employed in agriculture, 19.7% was employed in industry, 6.9% was employed in construction and 54.9% was employed in the service sector. Employment in services increased by 0.8 percentage point, industry increased by 0.6 percentage point while the share of agriculture decreased by 1 percentage point and construction decreased by 0.5 percentage point compared to the previous year.

Labour force realized as 32 million 274 thousand persons with 631 thousand person increase and labor force participation rate realized as 53.2% with 0.4 percentage point increase in 2018. Labour force participation rate was realized as 72.7% with a 0.2 percentage point increase for male and 34.2% for the female with a 0.6 percentage point increase.

TRC3 (Mardin, Batman, Şırnak, Siirt) region had the highest unemployment rate with 25% and TR82 (Kastamonu, Çankırı, Sinop) region had the lowest unemployment rate with 5.1%.

TR21 (Tekirdağ, Edirne, Kırklareli) region had the highest employment rate with 55.3%. TRC3 (Mardin, Batman, Şırnak, Siirt) region had the lowest employment rate with 30.5%.

TR21 (Tekirdağ, Edirne, Kırklareli) region had the highest labor force participation rate with 59.7%. TRC3 (Mardin, Batman, Şırnak, Siirt) region had the lowest labor force participation rate with 40.7%. (ILKHA)
