People with visual impairments who participated in the Qur'an courses opened for them by the Mufti of Adıyaman province stated that their happiness is indescribable when they learn Al-Qur'an with their fingertips.

Speaking to ILKHA's correspondent, Ümit Şahin, who is himself also visually impaired and teaches the Qur'an with the Brail Alphabet to the visually impaired people,  at the same time, teaches the visually impaired himself, expressed that different problems can be encountered in all areas of life, but some of the amenities came after them.

Referring to the verse of the Qur'an, "For indeed, it is not eyes that are blinded, but blinded are the hearts which are within the breasts," Şahin said: "If we start our lives in the right place, we can live our lives without ever being caught in the next obstacle."

Expressing his demand from the society, Şahin asked that they want the disabled people to be treated like normal people, not only in a day, nor in a week, but also in a lifetime that people should avoid hurting their pride.

"We read the Quran with our fingertips"

Expressing that she has been reading the Quran for seven years, Gülsüm Şahin stated that she has difficulty expressing her feelings.

"We read the Quran with our fingertips. We would ask before if we could read the Qur'an or how it could happen. If there is determination, if there is the request, the Lord will help."

Saying that the feeling of reading al-Qur'an is something completely different, the taste cannot be measured with anything, Şahin continued: "It is such a great thing that we cannot express the peace of feeling by touching the verses of Allah."

"We feel peace when we read the Qur'an"

Reading the Quran is making me feel peace," says Şahin. "Touching the Qur'an is something different. When we read it, we feel an incredible relief. We feel safe. It's totally something else. A feeling that is not described. When we touch with the fingertips, it can be understood more deeply." (Cemil Özdaş - ILKHA)
