The Supreme Court in Pakistan decided to release the Christian woman, Asia Bibi, who was sentenced to death in 2010 by the Lahore Court on the grounds that she had insulted Islam and Prophet.

Saqib Nisar, chairman of the three-person jury, which abolishes the conviction, said the Christian woman will be released if there is no another charge.

The Pakistani Sunni Union Council, which announced that they strongly opposed the calls for the release of the 45-year-old Christian female Asia Bibi, who was under arrest for insulting the Islamic religion and Prophet, announced that the pardon of Bibi would lead to anarchy and chaos in the country.

After the decision, groups including some Islamic parties began to take to the streets in the country's major cities, mainly in Karachi and Islamabad.

Protesters called for the dismissal of Prime Minister Imran Khan, while said the judges who made this decision "deserved death".
