Turkish Finance Minister announces "10 percent discount" against inflation

Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak announced the anti-Inflation economic program.

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli also made a speech before Minister Albayrak's statement.

"Chain markets will make 10 percent discount on 50 products in 2 months"

Pakdemirli, in his part of speech, said the inexpensive meat project will continue, "Meat and milk institution will make 10 percent discount on 10 products. ÇAYKUR [tea institution] will not make a hike for its products. Chain markets will give a 10 percent discount in 50 products in 2 months."

"Speculative attacks were pushed back"

Later, Minister Albayrak said:

"Turkiye has faced speculative attacks with August and has entered into an active struggle. These speculative attacks were pushed back especially with the measures taken against exchange rate fluctuations."

"Our actions and steps as the Ministry have met the expectations of the markets with the comprehensive New Economy Program. The air of concern is not allowed to be formed."

"Our aim is to ensure the balancing of prices caused by exchange rate fluctuations," he added.

Talking about the September inflation figures, Albayrak said the astonishing figures on market expectations also surprised the experts.

"We are entering a process to ensure normalization," he said.

"We have received the promise of making a minimum of 10% discount from all our companies"

"We have received the promise of making a minimum of 10 percent discount from all our companies and that the discount to be continued by the end of the year. Speaking about the hike in electricity and natural gas, Albayrak said, "Electricity and natural gas will not rise until the end of the year."
