Şemsa Çiğdem, the mother of Islamic prisoners Mehmet and Sadun Çiğdem, passed away on Tuesday's morning with all grief and longing for her sons, despite all demands to the authorities for her last desire to see her sons for one last time.

Mehmet and Sadun Çiğdem have been jailed for 20 years because of their Islamic sensibilities, in order to protect and defend the glory of Islam, and did not remain silent against cruelties.

Mother Çiğdem had been treating in a private hospital in Diyarbakır for some time because of her illness.

The last wish of the painful mother, who was being treated in the intensive care unit because of the progression of her illness, was to see her sons, who had been unjustly in prison for many years.

The grieving family applied to the Siverek Chief Public Prosecutor in connection with the matter, but the Chief Public Prosecutor denied this request.

Speaking to ILKHA on the subject, Mirhan Özbekli underlined that prisoners [Mehmet and Sadun Çiğdem] had a legal right to see their mother.

"A legal regulation was made for the prisoners to see one of the first-degree relatives if he or she is suffering from an unhealthy disease. This is a humanitarian regulation. Some prosecutors do not want to apply this regulation with the pretext that 'they can't provide security'. None prisoner or convict who visited their families or their deceased relatives caused a problem so far," he added. (Emrah Deniz - ILKHA)
