After protesters in Basra, in the south of Iraq, fired several political parties building and public buildings, the Command of the Basra Operations declared the curfew on the city until a second announcement.

A group of demonstrators in Basra, where violence has escalated in the past week, set fire to state television and party buildings yesterday evening.

According to information received from local sources, a group set fire to the state television and Bedir organization buildings during demonstrations erupted due to the lack of poor public services, unemployment, and corruption in the city. While the demonstrators, in particular, set fire to the state-run TV building, a live broadcast vehicle also burned by the protesters.

Another group of protesters also set fire to the building of Asaib Ahlihak, High Islamic Council and some other building. It was learned that the Iraqi Islamic Dava Party building, where Prime Minister Haydar al- Ibadi is a member, was also set on fire.

"The demonstrations have been held in Basra since 8 July"

The Basra province, where about 80 percent of Iraqi oil is produced, demonstrations have been ongoing since 8 July for reasons such as lack of poor public services, electricity and water problems, unemployment and corruption.

On the other hand, the Iraqi Ministry of Health announced the antidote to violent events that took place yesterday evening. According to the Ministry, one demonstrator was killed in the events that took place in the city, while 35 people were injured, including 11 of the security forces. Local sources, however, said three people lost their lives on Thursday's events.
