In Myanmar, the court sentenced two Reuter's reporters who were arrested while searching the murder of Muslims living in Arakan [Rohingya] by soldiers and authorities, imprisoning for seven years. The court ruled that journalists violated state secrets law.

The Myanmar army arrested correspondents Wa Lone, 32, and Kyaw Seo Oo, 28, while the reporters investigating the massacre took place in the Inn Dinn village in Arakan State in September 2017.

Yangon Northern District Court judge Ye Lwin claimed that the reporters had seized confidential information and violated the relevant State Secrets Act.

Many countries, including the United Nations (UN), the European Union and the United States, Canada, and Australia, asked journalists to be released.

The UN accuses Myanmar of doing "ethnic cleansing" by killing Arakanese Muslims. (ILKHA)
