Presidential Spokesman Ibrahim Kalın held a press conference at the Presidential Complex about developments on the agenda, also answered the questions of members of the press.

Referring to the fluctuations in the exchange rate, Presidential Spokesman Bold, said:

"I would like to share with you certain topics on our economic agenda. As a result of certain illegitimate and irrational measures and reactions by the U.S. administration, we, recently, have all seen some fluctuations in the Turkish economy, particularly in the exchange rates," Kalın said.

Underlining that these fluctuations have nothing to do with the structure and objective conditions of the Turkish economy, Kalın added: "We have seen that certain steps were taken to undermine the Turkish lira mostly as part of an economic war and a psychological perception management operation."

Stating that they are glad to see that an upturn has begun as a result of the measures recently adopted by all state bodies, the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the Central Bank, the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency, the Capital Markets Board, business world, and people's support, Kalın said, "It is our fundamental expectation that the improvement will continue because the Turkish economy is built on solid foundations and has a sound structure."

"Turkiye does not desire an economic war with anyone"

Stating that Turkiye also has a remarkable investment climate, Kalın underlined that Turkiye does not desire an economic war with anyone. "However, if there is an attack on its economy, it cannot remain unresponsive. As a result of the new measures, adopted and implemented by our institutions, we see that there is an upturn in the economy, he said.

Emphasizing reactions from European countries, Russia, Iran, many circles in the U.S. against the Trump administration's additional tariffs and remarks on the Turkish lira, Kalın said, "The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the U.S.-Turkiye Business Council and all other relevant organizations, the business world in Turkiye, the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD), the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkiye (TOBB), the Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MÜSİAD) and all other relevant organizations state that these policies will harm not only the Turkish-American relations but also the world economy."

"As Mr. President stated yesterday, all should rest assured that Turkey will continue to be integrated with the world economy in line with the rules of the free market," he said.

"We foresee that the normalization in Turkish economy will grow stronger"

Accusing the Trump administration sometimes triggers certain tensions abroad due to a reflex caused by domestic political jams," Kalın stressed that this approach virtually has become the standard practice over the last year. "In this regard, we have seen the U.S. administration has had some tensions with countries and organizations such as Canada, Mexico, China, Iran, Korea, Russia, Cuba, NATO, and Germany. In this sense, Turkiye is neither the first nor the last country."

"However, it is clear that this approach harms not only those countries' economies and global trade but also global economic balances and ultimately the U.S. interests. Therefore, we foresee that the normalization in Turkish economy will grow stronger as a result of the measures, taken and implemented by all our relevant institutions," he added. (ILKHA)
