Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez made explanations on the US sanctions against Iran.

Donmez participated in the live broadcast of A News TV and stated that natural gas imports with Iran are based on a long period of controversy.

"Our trade will continue"

"Our trade will continue based on contract provisions, as there will be no such thing as leaving the citizen in cold or without electricity," said minister.

Stating that a delegation from Turkiye went to the United States is doing a preliminary agreement on a series of issues, including negotiations on Iran sanctions, Dönmez expressed his opinion that a good result will emerge from this dialogue.

Relating to the US embargo on Iran and statement made by President Donald Trump concerning the on whom trade with Iran will not be able to trade with the US, Dönmez said the security of supply is extremely important and added it was a trading relationship based on a very old year with between Iran and Turkiye.

Dönmez expressed that the US imposed a one-sided embargo on Iran and said, "In the past, sanctions would impose with the UN decision so we [Turkiye] had to obey. Even the EU is actually quite uncomfortable with this. We have a legal trade and a neighborhood law." (ILKHA)
