In Iraq, 3 people lost their lives and dozens wounded by the police fire in the "protests against unemployment and cut off electricity".

Despite the intense measures taken by the Iraqi security forces and the curfew, demonstrators rushed to the streets again on Sunday morning in Basra. Some 3 protesters reportedly lost their lives by the fire of police.

Reinforcement security teams held many points in Basra, where the main roads closed due to protests. Despite this, however, the people went out to the streets for the protests.

The demonstrators who filled the streets in the morning walked to the Basra Provincial Assembly building despite intense security measures.

It was stated that three demonstrators lost their lives because of police fire, and the demonstrators' stones wounded about 10 police.

Najaf chief of police removed from office

Following the demonstrations, Najaf Police Chief Brigadier Macid Hatim reportedly removed from office. Major General Ala Garib reportedly replaced Hatim.

It was noted that the decision was made because the security forces were insufficient to intervene in the city demonstrations.

Curfew in 3 cities of Iraq

Curfew was declared in Basra, Karbala, and Najaf in Iraq in order to control the demonstrations due to lack of service and electricity interruptions.

The demonstrators set fire to the party buildings in some cities.

The government has cut off internet access in the city because of the demonstrations that started in the south of Iraq and spread to the capital Baghdad. (ILKHA)
