It turned out that Facebook provided personal information of 50 million Americans to a data company before the US presidential election in 2016 in order to conduct an election analysis for Trump and to operate it appropriately.

According to American media reports, data analysis company Cambridge Analytica has helped Trump's election campaign with detailed charts that show the psychological state of voters, using more than 50 million Facebook users' personal data.

Social sharing site Facebook was the target of criticism arrows about the emergence of member information used for analysis in the American presidential election.

Some members of the American Senate asked Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, to testify. The Massachusetts attorney general has launched an investigation into the matter.

Christopher Wylie, who worked with a Cambridge University academic to obtain the data, said: "We exploited Facebook to harvest millions of people's profiles. And built models to exploit what we knew about them and target their inner demons. That was the basis the entire company was built on."

Wylie said that during the presidential elections in 2016, the personal information of 50 million Facebook users was manipulated to give political messages.

More than 2.2 billion people use only the main service of the world's largest social media Facebook. (ILKHA)
