The People's Council and Criminal Tribunal for Mexican Public Security announced the most dangerous cities in the world, 42 of the most dangerous cities are in Latin America according to the report.

17 cities from Brazil, 12 from Mexico, 5 from Venezuela, 3 from Colombia, 2 from Honduras, a city in El Salvador, Puerto Rico, and Guatemala were cities announced as the most dangerous cities in the world.

The city's population was ranked according to the number of murders in the list. After a dizzying rise in its homicide rate, the Mexican city of Los Cabos has been ranked as the world's most violent city in 2017 with the murder rate of 112 per 100,000 inhabitants said the report.

Caracas, Venezuela, ranked second, with a slightly lower rate of 111.19 murders per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Acapulco, Mexico - with 106.63 - another of the 12 Mexican cities included in the annual ranking.

Another Mexican city, Acapulco, ranks third with 106 murders per 100 thousand people.

Another city where the most murders were committed in Brazil was Natal, where 102.56 of 100,000 people were killed. In addition, Fortaleza city attracted attention as the city where the rate of murder increased by 50 percent in one year. (ILKHA)
