Project to change Central Asia's energy map

The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the 2nd stage of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) natural gas pipeline, which will bring the Turkmenistan natural gas to Pakistan and India, and expected to be in service in 2020 that will change the energy map of Central Asia, held in the Serhatabat region of Afghanistan.

Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan presidents and senior representatives of Indian Foreign Minister is also among the Turkish businessmen together with a large number of foreign guests from the business world joined to the groundbreaking ceremony.

The pipeline, which is expected to be in service in 2020, will employ about 12,000 people with an annual capacity of 33 billion cubic meters.

Afghanistan will receive 14 million cubic meters per day, India and Pakistan will each receive 40 million cubic meters of natural gas. (ILKHA)
