Quran teaching woman was taken into custody in Turkiye

An incident took place last night in Diyarbakır that reminded of the 90's. For teaching the Holy Quran lessons at the mosque, the disabled woman was taken into custody with the participation of special operations police raid. The woman's door was broken with the battering ram by police. It was learned that the woman was charged in the trial that she was teaching Quran in the mosque.

According to the information, the women and her 3 daughters in the house were offended by making them lay on the ground while they have no action against the police. The Special Forces police officers who entered the home with the bots and did not let the girls to even cover their head. The girls in the house were insulted by the police said the eyewitness. The police who supposed to enter the house with the neighborhood Mukhtar, took the Quran teaching woman into custody and reportedly taken her to the Diyarbakır E type closed prison.

Speaking on the wounded conscience incident A.O.'s lawyer Mirhan Özbekli, stated that his client was arrested in an inhuman way and added the following:

"A police raid was carried out on the house of my disabled client last night with the participation of dozens of the special operations police. The door of my client's home in the raid was penetrated by breaking with battering rams and with boots. My client's daughters were laid on the ground by the police. The inside of the house was messed up. Then my client detained and was taken to Diyarbakır E Type closed prison."

Emphasizing that his client was punished only for her Islamic identity, Özbekli said, "My client was detained in 2004 for her mosque work, which for teaching the Qur'an, and later released to be tried without a pending trial. At the end of the trial period, a conviction for my client was decided. Yes, just because she was teaching the Qur'an lessons because of her mosque work."

Özbekli said: "There are thousands, tens of thousands of convicts out there, but the state does not take them into custody because there is no place in the prisons. Bus this illegality was made deliberatively and almost delighted all with the special instruction and work of Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor. The incident that hurt these consciences is not likely to be accepted."

"Such publicity is unacceptable when public opinion is waiting for the release of prisoners of February 28 and FETO judgment," said Özbekli and called the authorities to stop this illegal. (ILKHA)
