Rouhani, Aliyev, and Putin come together in Tehran

Iranian President Hasan Rouhani, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev came together in Tehran. At the second trilateral summit, leaders discussed energy, transportation projects, and economic relations. Top leaders have signed a common statement.

Rouhani gave a speech before the signing ceremony, the first that occurred to the tripartite summit of the main objectives held in Baku, he said: "We have focused on electricity, energy, trade cooperation, oil and gas including 'North-South Transport Corridor' in Baku summit. Today, I am pleased to announce that we have taken good steps in these areas."

Rouhani continued his words: The 'North-South Transport Corridor' railway project, which will link Asian continent to Europe for transportation, is developing rapidly. I hope we will celebrate the opening of this project in the near future with the completion of the railway project in Iran, Rasht-Astara."

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that the trio of negotiations was useful and that the three countries' relations had to be further developed, and that the three countries had common culture and history.

Russian President Putin said that negotiations are extremely useful and that relations between the three countries should be further developed than in the past. Putin also pointed to the Syrian issue, saying that Iran and Russia were making an effort to solve the Syrian problem.

The Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan Leaders' Summit was organized last year in Baku. The third summit will be held in Russia in 2018. (ILKHA)
