The drama of the Arslan family residing in Mardin's Kızıltepe district is heartbreaking. 5 children of the Arslan family who struggle to keep the life in the house where there is not a worker, cannot go to the school because there is no stationery such as pencil, notebook in their bags.

Children reportedly are crying while seeing their friend go to school, are waiting for help from the authorities to go to the school.

"Teachers say 'send the children to the school, or you will be punished"

Ruken Arslan whose husband is an unemployed made explanation to ILKHA desperately said that her 5 children need to go to school and due to the lack of stationery they couldn't buy, her children cannot go to school.

Mother Arslan described the grievances they experienced as follows: "I have 5 children, Evin 14-years-old is in the 8th grade, Fehime 13-years-old is in the 7th grade, Dilan 12-years-old at the 4th grade, and Bünyamin 9-years-old is in the 4th grade. My youngest boy Nurullah had to start school this year but we couldn't make his application. My husband is ill, my oldest daughter is 14 years old, and there is no any worker in the family, we have no income. My husband has slipped disk illness, he cannot work in heavy jobs. Normally it is very difficult for a 7-members family to get along with a minimum wage, and we have no employees. I'm calling the authorities; I am in a very miserable situation, I cannot send my children to the school. The house is rent, the teachers gave a list to each kid. How do we meet each child's list which cost 80-90 Turkish Liras when there is no worker? We do not know what to do, we are miserable. Teachers say 'send the children to the school, or you will be punished.' We have not received anything from them for school. There are only books the government has given."

"If they do not help us, the dream of studying of my children will remain a dream"

Arslan said that some families did not send their children to school despite financial possibilities and that she could not send her children due to financial impossibilities.

Arslan said, "We cannot send the children to the school if it continues like this. I am calling to authorities, We are in need so I can send my children to school."

"We are crying when we see that our friends are going to the school"

Mehmet Doğru Elementary School 4th grade student Bünyamin Arslan, the 4th-grade student in Mehmet Doğru Primary School said that he wants to study like his friends and wants to become a teacher when he grows up and said:

"We are crying when we see our friends are going to the school. We cannot go to the school because we cannot buy the materials that the teacher wants. I want to study like my friends, I want to be a teacher when I grow up."

"Studying is our right so they need to help us"

Fehime Arslan said that only the books given by the government were in his bags, "We have only been going to school only for a week since the school has opened. Our school bags are empty. We couldn't buy anything. Last week we took pencil and rubber from our classmates. Our friends are going to school but we can't. We want to go to school like our friends. We want to have a profession as a grown-up. I want to address to the Minister of National Education, we want to study, and we are in a very difficult situation. We have the right to study, please help us." (M. Salih Keskin, Mehmet Aslan - ILKHA)
