Castle Mosque in Erbil carries the color and scent of centuries

The mosque in Erbil Castle which one of the oldest castles in the world, located in Iraqi Kurdistan Region, carries the scent and color in the face of centuries. Various civilizations have been seen during the history of the mosque in the castle, a lot of scholars have raised from the mosque and went to different settlement for spiritual and ethic guides.

In providing information about the Castle Mosque in Tekkiye Neighborhood in Erbil Castle, Castle Mosque Imam Mullah Mohammad said that the mosque was the only mosque in this region who has Friday prayer until the 1940s.

Mullah Muhammad, who said that the mosque has many functions, was founded in the 22nd year of Hegira, "One of the functions of this mosque has been to overcome the disagreements among the people. The villagers were taking students those graduated from the mosque as imams to their villages. People were coming from a long distance to be educated here.
