Union of Islamic Scholar Deputy Chairman Mulla Beşir Şimşek expressed their sorrow over the demise of Muhammad Mahdi Akef, former President of Guidance Council of Muslims Brotherhood, also one of the most important figures of the Islamic struggle and one of dungeon friend of martyr Sayyid Kutup. Şimsek addressed to the Islamic Ummah to raise their voice against Sisi and other persecutors.

Conveying his condolences to all Muslims, Şimşek said: “The deceased wasn’t only a leader of Muslim Brotherhood. We know that there is a prison life more than 25 years. He had struggled for the interest of Muslims throughout of his entire life despite his old age, sickness. He had experienced every kind of troubles, dungeon, and torture.”

"As Islamic ummah, our silence, indifference cause for these to happen”

Şimşek condemns the insensitivity of the Ummah against of the demise of such elite personalities in the dungeons, “When we have received such bitter news, we have once again remembered that as Islamic Ummah, our silence and indifference cause such events to happen.”

“Everyone is blind, quiet and deaf when it comes to Muslims”

Şimşeh added that: “We have seen to face of persecutors once again with this. When we look at the history of our past, we see that the persecutors had martyred Hasan al-Banna, the Seyyid Kutup, the Mawdudi in the same way. Everyone is blind, quiet and deaf when it comes to Muslims. Keeping a 90-year-old patient in the dungeon, subjecting to the torture, of course, is the most of the illegality, no matter where it happens in the world.”

“Unfortunately, we have many Muslims are in prison in our country for talking about Islam”

Emphasizing that there is still persecution, Şimsek finally said: Not only in the administration of the cruel Sisi, we have many Muslim brothers and sisters in our country who spend their lives in dungeons as they tell people about Islam.” (M. Fatih Akgül - ILKHA)
