According to the statement made by the Interior Ministry, 122 people lost their lives in the traffic accidents that took place during the 10-day Eid al-Adha holiday.

On the highway, according to the Feast of Sacrifice in 2016, when the peak hours are taken as the basis, stated that the increase in vehicle intensity in this holiday was about 20 percent approximately, which 53 thousand of the traffic personnel were worked. It is determined that the vehicle intensity experienced this year is the highest in recent years.

According to the shared data, when the manner and timing of the accidents are examined; the majority of accidents occurred between 18:00 and 22:00 and between 04:00 and 08:00.

It was noted that a large majority of the accidents took place in the form of a single vehicle, run-off-road, hit the median, banquets, and standing vehicle/obstacle/impact.

It was stated that the intersection accidents and the hitting pedestrians’ accidents were important places.

Decrease in the number of fatal casualties in accident black spots

As a result of the precautionary measures, on average 10 of our citizens lost their lives in the accidents that occurred in previous years on 20 routes where the accidents are intense, 2 of our citizens lost their lives in this year.

Motorcycle mortal accidents fell from 11 to 3

As a result of the implementation and the measures taken regarding motorcycles, the number of motorcycle fatal accidents on the Ramadan Festival of 2017 was 11 and decreased to 3 in this Eid.

In 2016 the number of fatal accidents for normal days on average 20 per day fell to 12 during this holiday

On the whole of the year 2016, 20 citizens lost their lives on an average daily basis. It was determined that despite the increase in traffic density and the duration of the Eid, the average of citizens lost their lives on decreased to 12 per day.  (Veysi Tezelci - ILKHA)
