President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan proceeded to the AK Party Çatalca district branch after attending the funeral ceremony of Private Halil İbrahim Gürel, who lost his life in an attack of PKK in Hakkari’s Çukurca district.

Accompanied by Minister of Family and Social Policies Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya and Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, President Erdoğan made a speech at the AK Party Çatalca district branch

“Humanity remain silent to Myanmar massacre”

Noting that during this Eid al-Adha as well, which is about to end, major conflicts and wars have engulfed the Islamic world, President Erdoğan said: “We have gone through these troubles in Syria, Iraq, Palestine, and Libya. Grave massacres have unfortunately been committed particularly in Myanmar. And humanity remains silent to the massacre in Myanmar. I assume you have all watched from TV screens the situation the Rohingya Muslims have fallen in. You all have seen their sufferings. You have seen how their villages have been burnt. As Turkey, we have delivered and continue to deliver relief to Myanmar via Kızılay (Turkish Red Crescent) and AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority).”

“I will raise the issue of Myanmar at the U.N. General Assembly”

President Erdoğan added: “I will raise the issue of Myanmar at the U.N. General Assembly in the broadest manner. We will speak this issue with the leaders there. In the meantime, as the OIC term president, I have discussed this issue with nearly 20 world leaders. Some of these talks have yielded or will yield results. However, not everybody has the same sensitivity. Let them not; but, we will fulfill our duty.” (ILKHA)
