İbrahim Çapat, who has lost her wife Çiçek Çapat and his daughter Songül and son Baver wounded in the tractor accident which was carrying hazelnut workers in Sakarya in the town of Hendek, spoke to ILKHA.

İbrahim Çapat, who stated that his wife and children went to work to collect hazelnuts for the first time to contribute to the family budget, said that is still the shock of the event.

“They went for the first time to contribute to the family budget”

Çapat said, “15 days ago my wife, my daughter, and my son had gone to collect hazelnuts. I work on construction, our house is rent, and the fee I get is not enough for us. ‘I will go to the nuts to help you this year,’ said my wife. My daughter and son also asked to go saying, ‘daddy send us too so we can earn money for school fees.’ I did not want them to go. I earn 30-40 ? a day, but it's not enough. I pay 500 TL per month for rent. I have 6 children, with my wife and me, I look after 8 populations together. My wife, ‘I'll help you so we can pay our rent for this winter comfortable,’ said to me. They were going to go for the first time, so ‘what is 'collecting hazelnuts'? They were asking. They never went away. My wife passed away, my daughter Songül Çapat was still unable to open her eyes in intensive care. Thank Allah my son Yusuf was discharged today.”

“I look at photos and I cry”

Çapat, who said that he is standing due to the children which left from his wife, continued his speech as follows: “I still cannot believe that my wife died. Every night I look at her picture and I cry. I cannot believe my wife died somehow. Sometimes I go to the room, the kitchen, when the door is knocked on, I say that ‘is that her.’ I cannot believe she is dead. She was my life. My daughters are trusts from my wife. I would have collapsed if it was not for them.  I want to address all the authorities; our heart has burned, we don’t want anyone’s heart to burn.”

“I miss my mom so much”

Halise, a 9-year-old daughter of demised Çiçek Çapat said that she misses her mother very much. Halise said she dreamed that her mother would come home at any moment, “I loved my mother very much, I miss her very much. I cannot believe my mom died. I think she will come home at any moment. I'm living with that dream.”

"I cannot sleep at night"

7-year-old daughter Selma Çapat also said that she misses her mother so much and could not sleep without seeing her. “I cannot sleep at night, I cannot believe she is dead because I love my mother very much.”

“I want to continue schooling”

Sedat Çapat, who said that every time when door knocked, they run to open the door with his sisters saying, ‘mom came’. “My mother went to collect hazelnuts for us because of poverty. Our mother passed away, we do not know what to do. We want jobs from the state, we want help. I want to continue my education. I left school to support my family because of our financial situation. We were going to go to my mother, but my mother funeral came to us. (M. Salih Keskin, Mehmet Aslan - ILKHA)
