'Akıncı Base' case starts

During the coup attempt on July 15 of FETO last year, the case of 486 suspects on the activities at Akıncı Base, which was used as the main base of the coup, were on trial and it began to be seen in Ankara 4th High Criminal Court.

Extensive security measures were taken before the first hearing. 41 defendants were brought into a single row in the security corridor formed by the Gendarmerie commanders. Kemal Batmaz, who formed the civilian leg of the coup and was arrested at Akıncı Base, took the front row. Former Gen. Akın Öztürk, former Brigadier General Kubilay Selçuk and former Major General Mehmet Dişli were seen in the front lines.

“Execution” slogans were shouted

During the arrival of the defendants, citizens also protested putschist. Some of the citizens who were in demand for hanging threw ropes to the prisoners.

Fethullah Gulen is the number one defense in the critical case that will start in the courtroom in the Sincan Penal and Execution Authority.

Fugitive Adil Öksüz and the civilians caught in Akıncı Base Kemal Batmaz, Nurettin Oruç, Hakan Çiçek, Harun Biniş will be tried in the case. Also former Air Forces Commander Gen. Akin Öztürk is on trial for the case.

Indictment

In the indictment, Fethullah Gulen is stated as the chief suspect as Akın Öztürk as the number one of the military wing of the coup.

There is a total of 481 suspects in the indictment, including a full general, 6 general, 18 brigadiers, 22 colonels, 26 lieutenant, 33 majors, 56 captains, 62 lieutenants, 115 lieutenants, 131 petty officers and one expert sergeant.

In the indictment which consists of 4 thousand 658 pages and 570 folders, Prime Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Parliament Speaker Ismail Kahraman, the Prime Minister, MPs who are victims during the bombing of parliament, Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ have taken part as a complainant. (ILKHA)
