While anti-government demonstrations in Venezuela in the last four months were ongoing, the number of deaths rose to 102, with two more killed.

A two-day general strike was launched yesterday for demonstrations against Sunday's elections for members of the constituent assembly to write a new constitution in Venezuela. Two died in clashes between protesters and police on the first day of general strike.

In the protests against Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro, the number of deaths in the last four months has risen to 102. It was learned that the demonstrations continued in different cities.

The Supreme Court of Venezuela took the powers of Parliament to control the opposition in April. Although the court changed its judgment three days after the demonstrations, it could not prevent the spread of the demonstrations.

In addition, written statements were made by the US Treasury Department's Foreign Assets Control Office on sanctions imposed on Venezuelan officials.

It was noted in the declaration that 13 former and incumbent senior officials were enlisted on the grounds that they encouraged the election of constituent councils in Venezuela and played a role in the violent repression of the country's demonstrations.

Maduro, who is in the explanations on the subject, stated that the US has been insulting the Venezuelan authorities with the decision of sanctioning and tried to overthrow the Venezuelan government. (ILKHA)
