President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed AK Party group meeting at the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye (GNAT).

Noting that he and his counterparts discussed the ongoing problems and conflicts in Syria, Yemen, Iraq, and Palestine and sought ways to solve the Qatar crisis during the tour, President Erdoğan stated that they also exchanged views as to how Turkiye would contribute to the resolution, and continued: “It has been seen once again with these latest visits that Turkiye is one of the rare countries which can speak and communicate with all the sides and which enjoys deep-rooted ties with each of them.

Stressing that Turkiye doesn’t want any tension to be experienced among brothers because of artificial problems, President Erdoğan warned against wasting energy with intraregional crises in such a painful period when that energy should rather be spared for such issues as terror which poses a threat to all. “Because these crises make happy only those who have dirty plots regarding the region’s future and feed off blood and tears. These tensions only benefit terrorist organizations and their backers. What Muslims need is not fighting, but solidarity and unity. And we should thus seek ways to openly and sincerely discuss our problems,” the President said.

Expressing his belief that the ongoing Qatar crisis, which has caused unnecessary tension among brothers, will be overcome soon, and that the talks he held during his Gulf tour would make important contributions to its resolution, President Erdoğan said: “Turkiye will continue to side with brotherhood, peace, and stability. We will increasingly carry on our efforts for the peace and stability of the region as well as its future.”

Underlining the fact that al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site for Muslims, and that the Ottoman State had served al-Aqsa Mosque for four centuries, President Erdoğan stated: “Our ancestors had acted with such great delicacy and sensitivity that it is impossible not to remember them with gratitude and longing given today’s cruelty.”

Suleiman the Magnificent had had al-Aqsa Mosque’s Jaffa gate renovated and got the inscription ‘There is no god but Allah and Ibrahim is His friend’ written on it, and Architect Sinan renovated al-Aqsa Mosque and earmarked an area outside its western wall for the Jews to worship, President Erdoğan recalled, and added: “It was the Mufti of al-Quds, Muslims’ religious leader in the province, that the Christians resorted to whenever a problem erupted among adherents of various Christian denominations in the city. Our ancestors had never thought of denying other religions the right to life throughout their rule of the city for 400 years.”

President Erdogan spoke: “It is time for us to leave the lie that 'the Arabs have shot us from behind', which has been engraved in minds throughout the generations since they were deliberately and incorrectly placed in our textbooks in the past. We cannot denounce all the Arabs because of some mistakes in the First World War, even when we cannot blame certain sections of the society altogether because of terrorist organizations like PKK, like FETO, like DAESH, and like DHKP-C.”

“It is a matter of not means, but faith for Muslims to protect their holy sites”

Warning that the patience is running thin in the face of the Israeli administration going as far as the physical invasion by banning Muslims from entering al-Haram al-Sharif and worshipping there, President Erdoğan underscored that Israel is acting with not security concerns but rather aims to fully isolate Muslims from al-Aqsa Mosque. “It is a matter of not means, but faith for Muslims to protect their holy sites. If Israel is resorting to a method such as this relying on its weapons and resources and the powers behind it, then it is gravely mistaken,” said the President.

“The more Masjid al-Aqsa we have, the more difficult the work of those who have planted their eyes there”

Calling on all Muslims all across the world to visit al-Aqsa Mosque at every opportunity they have, in accordance with Prophet Muhammad’s advice, President Erdoğan stated: “The more strongly we defend al-Aqsa, the more difficult the job of those who set their eyes on it will become. If today Israeli soldiers are heedlessly able to soil the compound of al-Aqsa Mosque with their boots citing trivial incidents as a pretext, and if Muslims’ blood is being easily shed there, then the reason for it is our failure to defend al-Quds strongly enough. Since Mecca is one-half of our heart and Medina the other half, with al-Quds draping over them like a thin gauze, we should defend al-Quds together. Let’s defend it as if we are defending Mecca and Medina.”

Calling for Islamic sanctuaries to be respected and Muslims’ rights preserved, President Erdoğan underlined: “Turkiye will continue to advocate that the ideal resolution is the State of Palestine within the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital and the State of Israel within the same borders with Tel Aviv as its capital. Within this framework, we strongly condemn Israel’s recent attitude that blocks Muslims from entering al-Aqsa Mosque and worshipping there. If there is really an issue related to anti-terror fight, then it should be handled within its own limits and with the right methods.” (ILKHA)
