US antagonism rises in Turkiye

According to a public opinion survey conducted in 19 countries, the highest rate of anti-US sentiment in the last three years was in Turkiye, which rose to 64 percent from 36 percent.

In the “Country Assessment Survey” conducted by the GlobeScan/PPC research company between December 2016 and April 2017, only a third of respondents in general said they “have a positive outlook on the US”.

PPC President Steven Kull said, “A positive outlook toward the US has been a little lower in Obama's last years, but now the ratings of the US even are under George W. Bush era.”

Turkiye is the leading country with the most negative attitude toward the USA. This ratio, which was 36 percent in 2014, increased to 64 percent with 28 percentage point increase.

US antagonism also rose in Russia, the UK, Spain and France

The proportion of negative viewers to the United States in the UK increased from 42 percent to 64 percent, from 44 percent in Spain to 67 percent and from 41 percent to 56 percent in France.

It is also observed that the proportion of those who are negative to the US in Mexico has increased from 42 percent to 59 percent and in Peru it has risen from 29 percent to 49 percent. The US antagonism in Russia rose to 64 percent from 55 percent. (ILKHA)
