Citizens who spent time in Freedom Square, the most crowd area of Mardin's Kızıltepe district, expressed their feelings about the Ramadan month to ILKHA microphones.

While the Ramadan, the month of mercy and forgiveness of sins, continues with its all beauty, people of Kızıltepe indicated that they are witnessing the plentifulness of Ramadan, said that they feel the spiritual atmosphere to the hilt.

“If we do not fast in this abundance, then it is ungrateful”

Haci Emin İzol, who compares the Ramadan of the past with the present Ramadan, said, “Mashaallah the weather is very beautiful, and if there is no sickness, if there is not any trouble, it can be fast without any difficulty. There was nothing in the past, there was no bread, no food, very few. Now we are in the abundance era. 10 kinds of food come in the evenings. This is a blessing from Allah, so if we do not fast in this situation, then it is ungrateful.”

“Let's pay attention to our prayers”

Lokman Buğurcu stated that the month of Ramadan is a great opportunity and that people without any disabilities should fast.

Buğurcu said, “Ramadan is very beautiful, and this blessed and fertile month of Ramadan is not shared by all. Allah gives patience to the fasting man and the evening comes very quickly. Especially prayer is very important. Let’s pay attention to our prayers.”

“In the past we had Ramadan with a tin can halva”

Necat Kanık said that he is glad to have Ramadan, reminding Ramadan days that he had lived in the past and said:

“Ramadan is very beautiful this year in Kızıltepe. The weather is a bit cooler than last year, we are fasting in the daytime and we go to the mosque in the evening to perform tarawih. The possibilities of the present day and past are not same. When Ramadan came, we went out to Mardin and bought 5-6 tin can halva and distributed them among the relatives. We would finish our Ramadan with that halva. Now there are 100 kinds at the table.

“We were both working on the field and fasting from morning till to evening”

Hüseyin Gümüş, who said that all worship, especially Ramadan, is connected to the intent and that Allah helps is the intention is genuine, expressed his feelings as follows:

“If our intention is pure and powerful, then Allah is also helpful. If our intentions are broken, we are hungry even if we are on the table, even if we are at the side of the river. I used to work in the field from morning until dawn, I was wading people's walls, but still fasting. Because our intentions were strong. Now I was looking at the young people and their food is biscuit. They do not eat properly. That's why they fall very quickly.”

“We are experiencing the joy of having Ramadan”

Haji Salahaddin Özer, who stated that this year's Ramadan is a bit cooler than last year, also said that Ramadan is a great blessing. Özer said, "It was much warmer and harder than it used to be, now it is more comfortable, most people do not even work in Ramadan.
