Students reacted to the intentional program planned to be organized near the University of Gaziantep stated that the “unlimited local alcohol” program, which is incompatible with the belief of the public, should be canceled.

Every day a new organizations organized under the name of the party to corrupt the society and especially to distract the youth from their spiritual values. Finally, an organization planned in Gaziantep, by a foreign club in Şehitkamil district, in the city of Mehmet Kamil, in the city where thousands of people martyred against French army, against the Crusader mentality who wanted to occupy Antep during the War of Independence and tried to remove the headscarf of mothers, met with reaction.

University student Muhammed Algan, who stated that the program banners, especially hanging around the university, are aimed at breaking the students from spiritual values, said the authorities should cancel the activity.

Algan said, “Absolutely we will not allow this in Gaziantep. We do not want a generation that walks day and night as wet. We want a generation that will be alive, alert and knowledgeable. We will not let snails to be sold in the Muslim neighborhood. Those who make it to the nightclub by selling 75 Turkish Liras, want to play game in Antep they played in other cities. They want a drunk generation. They usually target students by working around the university.”

“As youth we will react to this”

Algan said that the banners were still not removed when they asked for the municipal police teams to remove the banners hanging around the university, calling this festival's arrangement in Gaziantep as a sound, said:

“They are now test the water of the people right now. Normally, four glasses of drink cannot be drunk by 75TL in this kind of environment but those given unlimited drinks. This is because it is a process that both test the water of our people and targets university students. We will not allow this. When President Erdoğan brought up the liquor laws', he said ‘we do not want a generation of merry head day-night drinking, we want awake, alive, and a generation equipped with knowledge’. But here, too, the AK Party Municipality do not collects these banners. We have been searching the mayor and the public for many times since the day, and there has never been answered to us. As young people, we will react to this in every way.”

“The fight against the cigarette must also be given against alcohol”

Ibrahim Kızılçınar, who stated that with such an activity they try to corrupt the university youth which absolutely unacceptable, “The whole university youth must react to this activity. The mayors of the metropolitan and district governments, especially government officials, do not have the right to say “we did not know”. Because all the authorities know about this. However, opposition have to react to this. Despite the fact that these banners are not legal when we are currently in an emergency state as a country still they are hanged all around with banners. The countermeasures against cigarettes throughout Turkiye should also be given for drinking. We certainly do not accept the try to legitimize alcohol in this way.”

“I think this activity is very dangerous”

Büşra Aslan also said, “I do not like such activities because I am against alcohol and because our religion is also prohibited alcohol. I am also sure that negative situations will arise when we think about a student. I think this is a wrong activity. I call out to the authorities here. This is a mistake and should not be done. I look at this activity very negatively. Because the university environment is a very different environment, there are all kinds of people at the same time. I think this activity is very dangerous.”

Ahmet Marifet Çınar, who stated that such organizations are trying to corrupt the youth by targeting them, said, “We saw it on July 15th. They do not frighten this nation with guns, rifles, fights and blood. The western and wartime foci play such games on young people because they know it very well. In this way, they are trying to corrupt young people. Thus they want to create a generation without identity and without personality.”

“Making such festivals is unacceptable”

Yunus Berk, who says that such banners are hanging around the university, keeping the price low and offering more attractive offers especially shows that the young people of university are targeted.”

Merve Delen also said, “I think these programs are not appropriate. Especially it is not appropriate for young people to be in a drinkable environment like this and I find it wrong. It is wrong to be alcoholic. Because when people drink, they feel merry, they do not know what they are doing. I am not looking at positively.”
