The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned PACE’s re-open monitoring decision for Turkiye and noted that the decision was taken with political motives.

In the written statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was reminded that in the today’s session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe [PACE], the decision of re-open monitoring was made which Turkiye was in the post-audit dialogue process since 2004.

In a statement condemning the decision, “We condemn this unfair decision that taken with political motives outside of the established procedures.”

Following explanations were made in the statement, “Our country is struggling with the most bloody terrorist organizations like PKK, FETO and Daesh. Necessary and proportionate measures are taking against the threats that target the constitutional order and the existence of the nation, adhering to its international obligations. It should not be forgotten that Turkiye is contributing to the security and stability of all of Europe and its immediate surroundings while at the same time fighting with treacherous terrorist organizations while embracing more than 3.2 million refugees on one hand. This decision Parliamentarians in the PACE which ignores these contributions of Turkiye to stability and security in Europe, reflects an indisputable attitude that lacks strategic visions, which ignores the common and democratic values that have risen over Europe.”

As a founding member of the Council of Europe, Turkiye that advocate for contemporary European ideals and values and taken under monitoring by the trick of some intentional circles in PACE does not suits with the PACE which claims to be pro-democracy emphasized in the statement and said, “In this anti-Turkiye circles, in today’s Europe, the fact that our country is struggling against xenophobia and Islamophobia by itself alone and siding with oppressed people is a very important factor. In these anti- Turkiye circles and in the fact that the PACE members who were sent to observe the referendum of our country were selected from sympathizers of the terrorist organization. This discriminatory decision as a political operation by some of European groups those acting under narrow and swallow domestic political motives under the influence of populist approach that fuel the Islamophobia and xenophobia. This decision will serve terrorist organizations especially FETO, notably not only our country, which pose a threat to the whole European system and its values.”

“Turkiye has inviting PACE that took this decision to joint measures to combat against the common terror of the world, to fight sincerely with rising xenophobia, racism and Islamophobia problems, to take a responsible stance that respects human rights.” (ILKHA)
