Turkiye's decision from PACE

At the end of the session on “The Functioning of Democratic Institutions in Turkiye” in the General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe [PACE], the draft resolution on the re-open monitoring procedure on Turkiye has been approved, which Turkiye passed that procedure on 2004. According to this, it is announced that Turkiye will be taken back under political monitoring.

Parliamentary Assembly has accepted the draft with 113 votes yes and 45 no. With this decision, it is emphasized that these proposals must be fulfilled in order for the cooperation with Turkiye to continue.

The report prepared by PACE Turkiye’s rapporteur Estonian Marianne Mikko and Norwegian Ingebjørg Godskesen, decisions taken at the site and applications are criticized in Turkiye during the emergency state declared last year after the coup attempt and extended three times. The report also claims that the functioning of democratic institutions in Turkiye are going wrong. (ILKHA)
