Deputy Prime Minister and Government Spokesman Numan Kurtulmuş explains the US attack on the air base in Syria.

Reminding of President Erdoğan's statements saying, “We want to see action rather than just words” after US President Donald Trump said “military intervention in Syria”, Kurtulmuş said, “In this sense, it is important and make sense that the US strikes on an air field which is probably chemical weapons attack on civilians carried out from that military base. But the international community, must maintain their attitude in a very clear way to this barbarism of Assad's regime. Up until Assad regime become harmless to its people. Therefore we welcome this strike, but we think it is imperative to end this and the Assad regime must be punished completely internationally.”

Kurtulmuş said: “The barbarism of Assad regime need to stop in Syria as soon as possible. Not just to accelerate the peace process initiated and imposed in Syria but a permanent fair peace to be establish in Syria is imperative that will be accepted from all suffering people. I hope that this operation of the United States will contribute to the reconciliation. And will prevent of the Assad regime so that it will no longer take these barbaric steps and will encourage the peace process.” (ILKHA)
