The US Department of Defense [Pentagon] has announced that they have launched more than 50 Tomahawk missiles in a regime-owned air base in Syria.

“We launched more than 50 Tomahawk missiles to an air base belonging to the Syrian regime," an official in the Pentagon told reporters. The attack was made from a US military ship stationed in the Mediterranean.

The military official also quoted the attack carried out on aircraft, runways and fuel spots as “attacking the base, we think was used in chemical attack which is limited to a second order of what we do today.”

On the other hand, US President Donald Trump stated in his statement during the evening that the attack order was given by him.

Trump said, “I issued an attack order tonight targeting the military base where the chemical attack was carried out. A missile operation in Syria was a factor in the security of the US. The refugee crisis continues because earlier attempts have failed and the instability in the region threatens the United States and its allies. This evening I invite all civilized countries to join the United States to stop the massacres and all kinds of terrorism in Syria.” (ILKHA)
