Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in the Kurdistan Regional Government President Masoud Barzani-led joint written statement made after the meeting. In the explanations, it was emphasized that independence is right of Kurdish people.

According to the statement published in the offical site of the KDP, it was mentioned that the meeting referred to the issues related to Kirkuk, referendum, independence and domestic situation.

In the declaration, it was emphasized the issue of referendum and independence and stated that the people of Kurdistan have the right to decide on their own administration, referendum and independence. It was noted that the two parties considered independence as a national issue and would work seriously on the issue.

“It is legal for Kurdistan to have a flag in Kirkuk”

Kirkuk, which has recently become a controversial issue in the explanations, also referred to the decision of hanging Kurdistan flag on official institutions.

The statement was included the following, “It is clear that Kurdistan has the right to have its own flag if the Iraqi government has the right to have its flag in Kirkuk.
