Finance Minister Naci Ağbal, who came to Gaziantep for various contacts, told the participants about the ‘New Constitution and Presidential Government System’ which will be voted on April 16th at the meeting held in the Gaziantep Industry and Trade Chamber.

“We cannot make politics permanent and stable over people and certain people,” said Ağbal and continued, “In the last fourteen years, despite all the internal hardships, we have caught up with permanent political stability through the existing political staff. But we certainly cannot make it permanent and stable over politics and specific staff. If we want to transform this belt beyond Turkiye and into a developing Turkiye, then we have to establish a system independent of the persons that transcends of persons. There is also a clear gap democracy in the current system as it is in current budget.”

“How come this constitutional amendment so echoed in Europe?”

Ağbal spoke about the attitude of the European Union countries towards Turkiye within the scope of the referendum process.

“How come this constitutional amendment in Europe so much echoed?” Asked Ağbal, and said:

“Our ministers want to go to those countries and tell our citizens about the amendment of the constitution, and obstacles are putting in front of our ministers. Our deputies want to work there, they prevent their work. Yet they are clearly organizing 'no' campaigns. When you look at these countries apparently friends in Turkiye. But in reality they never wanted Turkiye to grow, to get stronger, and to develop. These countries want to see a Turkiye that its head downhill, without hospitals and roads, debt-ridden. See this last 94 years. Until the year 2002, when you looked at Europe, they came to us with advice. In the days when this country was in need, these Europeans came and looked at us from the top, and they would swagger on us. Now, what has changed in Europe over the last 14 years? How come the constitutional amendment so echoed in Europe? Why are they so interested in the constitutional amendment here? I keep some countries out of this. But in particular, some countries are disturbed by it.” (İbrahim Koçyiğit - ILKHA)
