The 11 villagers who were martyred after the mine explosion that the PKK laid on the road of village of Gogwari in Karacadağ in 1994 will be accompanied by a memorial ceremony to be held upon at their graves on Sunday, March 12th.

Ömer Çelik, the Chairman of the Martyrs Caravan Platform, who will organize the commemoration organization, said that 11 people, including children, were murdered brutally by a mined ambush because they did not submit to the PKK's persecution.

Çelik said, “People of this region suffered very painful events carried out by PKK. They brutally slaughtered the people of the religious community who are not subject to themselves, who do not believe in their beliefs and perverse ideologies. One of these events was the explosion with mines to village bus going to the city to make a feast in the morning of Kadir Nights in Gogwer'i village of Karacadağ on 10 March 1994. This painful event was killed 11 Muslim martyrs and close to 40 wounded. There were children among the martyrs.”

Reminding that the PKK in the region in the 90s was a violent repression and the people resisted the oppression, Çelik continued: “Muslims have sacrificed their lives for the sake of this religion from Adam until today, and after that, hopefully they are ready to sacrifice. The issue we want to emphasize is to not to forget the suffering events of the painful events those exposed to Muslims in the past, to keep alive and to convey this to our generation so that they will keep alive in our minds. In the 90s, the organization called PKK applied very severe pressures to Muslims in Karacadağ. They couldn’t take shelter in that region after the resistance of the Muslims. We all know that martyrs are people who have caused their blood to spread to the glory of the holy Islamic religion. Thanks to their blessed blood, the sleeping people and generations have awakened. They understood and perceived what they commanded by Allah by their saintly blood.”

Stating that they will organize the martyrs’ commemoration event at the Karacadağ village (Gogwerî) in March 12th, Sunday at 12.00 to keep the memories of the martyrs alive, Çelik said that all people are invited to this program.

The end of the mine explosion laid on the way to the village of Gogwerî; Ibrahim Dağtekin, Molla Hıdır Akyol, Bedri Soysal, Muhammed Halil Gölçer, Muhammed Emin Gölçer, Tacettin Parlak, Halil Demir, Kutbettin Ayhan, Muhammed Ayhan, Hacı Ramazan Yeşil, Ramazan Gölce were martyred. (Emrah Deniz, Abdurrahman Tetik - ILKHA)
