US consulate officer arrested from PKK
H.U., an interpreter in Adana Consulate of the United States, who was detained in Mardin and sent to the judiciary, was arrested and imprisoned for "being a member of PKK".
The US Adana Consular Officer H.U., who was detained for allegedly attempting to lead the people through provocative acts, came to the region following the murder of a person named "Behzat" from the PKK's senior accountants and was arrested by judicial authorities for the second time today.
Kızıltepe Public Prosecutor's Office has made a decision to arrest H.U. officer of the US Adana Consulate, within the scope of the investigation into PKK. In this direction, the address of the suspected interpreter in the consulate was raided on February 23rd.
When the suspect was not reached at the address, police detained the suspect H.U. at central Yüreğir District D-400 Highway on the way of consulate building.
The suspect, who was brought to Mardin after the health checks, was brought to Kızıltepe Courthouse yesterday and released with the decision of judicial control.
Upon the objection of the prosecutor's office, the suspect was detained again. H.U. at 12.00, was taken to Mardin Courthouse under intensive security precautions.
H.U., who testified to the public prosecutor who conducted the investigation, was referred to the Magistrates' Court with a request for arrest. The court decided to arrest H.U on charges of "being a member of the armed terrorist organization". The arrested suspect was placed in Mardin E Type Closed Prison. (M. Salih Keskin - ILKHA)
