Mine İpek, a victim of the postmodern coup on February 28, 1997 and later on founded February 28 Women's Platform, noting that the coup was made to all religious people and described the grievances they had experienced in that process.

With the post-modern coup of February 28, which became a symbol of a dark period, innumerable raids against religious and conservative people under the name of fundamentalism were made and thousands were put into prison. One of the ugliest faces of coup, "Persuasion Chambers" was founded and, relation thousands of innocent headscarves students and colleges were cut off from universities.

There are hundreds of innocent and guilt free prisoners who have been sentenced with various calipers, forced and tortured, and who have been trying to remedy their grievances in prisons for years.

Mine İpek tells ILKHA what they experienced. Said that decisions in the dark period of February 28 started very fast in her early year in Inonu University.

İpek told about warning statements and punishment by university administration on headscarved students and pressure, she said, “We were comfortable for a while when we started to our school. Then suddenly problems occurred in the second term. Warning statements started to be hanged at the door of our faculty. Then the process started very fast. We started to receive condemnation, warnings and punishments for why we were wearing headscarf. After 3-month process and following to those punishments we received, our relation had been cut off from university.”

During the period when the headscarf was forbidden, FETO members were insensitive and some told that they were betraying, İpek continued her speech as follows:

"In the 3-month time period, when we got suspended, we were not able to go to our classes so every friend started a sit-in protest in front of their own faculty. We were sitting there quietly. It was a silent act. Our other brothers were supporting us, those brothers who had sensitive conscience. They were no longer went to the school, but only the members of the FETO terrorist organization of the then-faction, the community at that time, did not even participate in anything unresponsive to anything. They did not sign anything and did not support the course boycott in any way, they sat neutrally in class without disturbing. Later then we were hearing that they were betraying complained to the university administration that we are headscarved.”

“Our dean was reminding the word of Fethullah Gulen that ‘headscarf is nonessentials’ at that time”

İpek, reminding university teachers that they were trying students to give up headscarf by setting up "persuasion rooms", "At first they were expressing themselves beautifully, ’you need to open your head, we do not want it, but we are obliged to do so...’ All of these things cause us to see the real face of people in the future. I never forget that our dean has summoned us and reminded the words of Fethullah Gülen, that 'headscarf is nonessential' description, then 'See these friends I mentioned are also religious but the removed their headscarf. Why don’t you remove your headscarf, which organization are you serving, which terror organization do you serve, why are trying to make chaos?’ unfortunately after many years we realized that those who produce the real chaos were not us, but those who are prepared for this are themselves.”

İpek stated that they completed university education with the amnesties issued after they have dismissed from university and expressed the purpose of the platform they have established as follows:

“Our friends graduated between 2012 and 2014. But we established Malatya-based February 28 Women's Platform in 2012. Our goal in establishing this platform is to reach our friends in other fields and how many friends in our universities have been disadvantaged and we have made some statistical studies. We have been working with our representative brothers we determined in provinces for 5 years. We reached a certain number. Around 300 brothers and sisters were kicked out of universities at that time. You know that before this, the teachers were forced to resign. The age problem is that we finished the university late, we also have acted with our government and contributed some law in order to resolve these problems. Many of problems are resolved. There are some problems for our newly graduated brothers to start job, we work on that issue. Of course, our goal of establishing a platform is not only the relief of victimizations, but also telling our younger brothers about the past, telling the situation we have witnessed and the history of our country.”

"There is no justification reason to coup on people"

Emphasizing that there is no justification reason to coup on people, İpek said, “Then prohibitions began suddenly. There was no reason for prohibitions neither in our school, nor in another institution or in society.  Actually there is no justification reason to coup on people. They applied their plan which written on the table by taking the support of global powers and social engineers. The society was prepared for chaos. They tried to make chaos with the plans they written. All this was a Muslim hunt.”

"Established traps are not completely finished"

İpek, stated that those who taught the Qur'an lesson in mosques, those who opened banners in the headscarf actions on February 28 process were put into prison as a "member of a terrorist organization" and said, "Established traps are not completely finished. There are no obstacles for our brothers in prison to be released. They should tried again in order to finish this victimization. This is a violation upon us and I hope that a work will be done for our brothers as soon as possible so they can liberate.” (Emrah Deniz- ILKHA)
