Şeyhmus Alpsoy, who has been jailed for 17 years because of his Islamic identity and currently in TekirdaÄŸ Numbered 2 F-Type Prison, is having a hard time because his disease is not intervened in time. The family appealed to President ErdoÄŸan and asked him to use the authority to forgive sick prisoners.

Şeyhmus Alpsoy's illness proceeded, which he and his family repeatedly demanded, but whose prison administration was not allowed to have his treatment done at the hospital.

It was determined that Şeyhmus Alpsoy, who had been hospitalized from Tekirdag Prison for his treatment, has a tumor in his large bowel. Family of Şeyhmus Alpsoy's, a sick prisoner who was referred to Ankara on the intense efforts of his family, spoke to ILKHA.

"Although his disease progressed, he was not taken to the hospital"

Suat Alpsoy, wife of Şeyhmus Alpsoy said that her husband who had been arrested as a victim of February 28 was in prison for about 18 years with only one reason because of his Islamic identity.

Reminding that her husband was referred to the Tekirdag Numbered 2 F-Type Prison after the July 15 coup attempt, Alpsoy stated that her husband was not taken to the hospital despite the progress of his illness in this prison.

"We wrote a petition to the President and BÄ°MER, but we did not receive an answer"

Alpsoy said, "We learned with our own possibilities that his illness is progressing and it is going to be bad. Although the prison should be informed to us, we have not been informed. He also have not been taken to the hospital. We wrote to the presidency and BÄ°MER [Premiership Communication Center] after we learned the situation. But we didn`t receive any answer. He was hospitalized after his illness progressed but he was taken back to the prison again. When his intestines reached the explosive level, he was taken again to the hospital and found to have a tumor in his large intestine.”

"You have to be allowed to be treated because you are sick"

Alposa, who reported that her husband had been transferred to Ankara Sincan Prison after being diagnosed with a tumor in his large intestine, stated that he should be treated as soon as possible.

Alpsoy continued: "I believe that he is not guilty, even if he is guilty by the state, he should be allowed to be treated because he is sick. We do not want forgiveness for anybody, we just want him to be suspended for being sick and to be tried again after healing. He will recover much faster when he is with his family, but as long as they are in prison, their illness will progress and they will not recover. Look, how many people`s funeral released from the prison or when their lives are at the critical point. We do not want it to happen. If the government is really fair, it has to do it."

"The President has amnesty for sick prisoners, use it"

Alpsoy pointed out that during Ahmet Necdet Sezer era, he was forgiven on the grounds that the prisoners with the left-hand factions were sick. She also wanted President Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan to use his authority to sick prisoners be released.

Alpsoy said, "We want to start the treatment of my husband as soon as possible. We want it not only from the President but also from the Prime Minister and other authorities. My husband is not guilty. 18 years ago they entered the house with a cracker and turn the house inside out. Although they found nothing that could be crime but they took it away from his arm. While we asked why you are taking him away, they answered 'tomorrow morning will come back.' But it's been 18 years, it still has not come back. Two people are missing from our family, 2 people are in emigration and 2 people are in prison. They applied all persecution on us. My children were very little, we experienced very hard times. They were going to the school in the morning, they were selling bagels [simit] after lunch. I would like to have my sick and prisoner husband released soon."

"We want the necessary investigations be made as soon as possible"

Ismail Alpsoy, the son of Şeyhmus Alpsoy, said that when his father was arrested, he was eight years old and stressed the difficulties they have experienced after him and said, "My mother became a father to us the same time as my father was arrested. We also had to work from early ages. We were alone in all difficulties. Forget about the material, we did not know how we would be protected from the evil. Thank Allah for helping us and protecting us from evil."

Alpsoy addressing to Government authorities and said, "Thank Allah, we are patient as members of this religion but we must not stop in the face of injustice. We want the Justice and Development Party, now the government, to be worthy of its name. We want them not to be afraid of the condemnation of the condemnatory. The president has a duty, he has amnesty for the sick prisoners, and we want him to use it."

Musa Özer, Ahmet Şahin, Seyit Ali Demirkol, Turan Arı, Cahit Durmaz who was sick prisoners and had lost their lives because they were not intervened in time, also within Hüseyin Akbalık, who had been kept in prison for 24 years in prison and released after his brain tumor surgery and continued his treatment out and passed away in the past months.

The families of sick prisoners currently in prison expect from the government to take the necessary steps in order to not face the same fate and to ensure that their children do not experience the same. (ILKHA)
